Dan and I wanted to apologise for the lack of blog posts recently. Real life has demanded more attention than normal due to a close relative having a major operation, and requiring a great deal of assistance now that she's home.
We've also been hit by some IT issues - both hardware and software. On the hardware front, I've had some issues with my desktop. On the software front, an upgrade from Vista to Windows 8.1 meant re-installing Office... which is turn meant calling them up to reactivate it as windows now thinks it's a different bit of kit and the licence is for one PC. One added complication is that Dan and I are now on different versions of Word, which isn't ideal for collaborative works.
For the imminent future, our blog output is going to be way down. Thankfully, we've got some lovely guests coming over to fill the void. You'll still find some of our content on other blogs (we schedule guest appearancess well in advance) so we'll drop by with links to those too.
Cleaver Square is close to ready, but I'd rather drag it out than put out a sub-par product. To those editors / proofreaders etc waiting on emails from me, I apologise profusely. I will be in touch with all shortly.
The combination of the above issues has meant I'm behind on general emails too. Including all the typical spam, I've had something in the order of 15,000 emails in the last 12 weeks. I've replied to several hundred of those so far. Rest assured, this isn't a deliberate slight. Nor are unresponded-to tweets, facebook messages etc.
This includes a few authors - I'm behind on promised beta reading/ critiques/ general questions/ guest posting requests etc. If I've missed a scheduled blog post, I'll be in touch to re-arrange it at the next convenient opportunity.
If you've got something urgent I need to respond to then please tweet or email a second time so I can prioritise you.
As you might have guessed, our carefully planned release schedule for Cleaver Square went out of the window. The best laid plans of mice and men... We've been through an initial two external edits. We've also had our 'libel reading' stage (where a lawyer checks to make sure nothing could incur liability). We've got another two copy-edits planned, then proofs. After that, a final libel read then it's off to be formatted.
At the same time, our translators will start on their thing. We'll also begin annoying you all asking for blog posts/ tweets etc to help us get the word out. In all honesty, this is likely to mean a release date very close to Christmas. Provisionally, that looks like Saturday 21st.
We'll be confirming a date properly once we've had time to schedule all our external contractors.
We will release Cleaver Square this year - we promise.
Once again, thank you for your patience and continued support. We really appreciate it.
Sean & Dan
