After a little over a week, we've now had over 6,000 freeloads of Dead on Demand. That's without any paid advertising. We have a couple of twitter mentions (particular thanks to @FreeEbooksDaily & Alexandria Szeman for their shout-outs on Wednesday & Thursday). We had a feature for another book on eBookSoda which may have contributed to Tuesday's downloads.
But, for the most part, those are 6,000 totally organic downloads. 90% of them are from the UK (where it went free first). We're hoping the rest of the world will begin to catch up, but we won't actively promote the freebie until our revised edition is up (it's with a copyeditor for a quick line edit, then we'll reproof once more and then swap out the files; a changelog will go up here when this happens).
The US should pick up a bit at some point - it's a much bigger market than the UK. Downloads are trickling in elsewhere, but it's a few dozen at most in the likes of Canada, Aus and India. Again, with a bit of promo we should be able to do better than that.
We're working on DCI Morton, book three which will feature a burglary gone horribly wrong (but don't worry, there will be a few twists as always). More to come on that over the next few months.
Thank you all for your support so far in 2014 - here's to a great February (and a happy Chinese New Year too!).
